vaginal ring

A hormonal form of birth control, in which a thin, flexible ring is inserting into the vagina every three weeks to release progestin and estrogen. It works to stop the ovaries from releasing eggs and thickens cervical mucus to keep sperm from reaching the egg. Often called “the ring” or Nuvaring, the brand name. Learn more about birth control.
