Puberty starts, on average, anywhere from age 9 to age 14, but happens a little earlier or later for some. In general, puberty for females usually starts between the ages of 9 and 13 and ends around age 14 or 15. For males, puberty usually starts between the ages of 10 and 14 and ends around age 15 or 16.
There is no exact time when puberty starts or ends. Everything doesn’t happen at once. Every person is different, so don’t worry if you start puberty before or after your friends – and don’t compare yourself to other kids. If you’re worried about it, you can talk to a healthcare provider, a parent or another trusted adult to make sure you’re on track. You probably are!
