Drugs are chemicals that can change how your body and mind work. Some teens and adults use them to change the way they feel. “Drugs” can be over the counter or a prescription used to treat a health condition. These drugs can be helpful, unless you take too much or use them when you don’t need them. They can be illegal drugs like pot or cocaine. They can also be substances meant only for adults, like alcohol and the nicotine in tobacco and vapor (“vape”) products.

You probably know people (including adults) whose lives have been really messed up because of drugs and addiction. Teens who use drugs can have higher risks of unplanned pregnancy, STDs, serious illness, accidents, addiction, arrest, relationship problems and even death.
